another Book Review by Rebecca Robertson 10C

"When I first saw this book I was intrigued by the cover and title.  I’m afraid to say I judged this book by its cover and it wasn’t all that I thought it was going to be.  It was a very slow start to the book and the excitement didn’t really start for me until over half way through and this bored me.  However once you break through the excitement it turned out to be a very good book."

"A really easy, quick and enjoyable read.  The title of this book – it sounds really intriguing and it gave me high expectations.  The book deals with racism, alcohol abuse, grief and family break-ups.  I found it a little bit difficult to get into the childish nature of the book as it’s written from the point of view of a ten year old boy, but after I got used to it I found it quite charming.  The humour was wonderful.  A rather simple yet effective book."
