Dave Green ex Science Teacher abroad ...........
Things are going well. I'm really busy though... working out here makes working blighty look like a stroll in the park. I've got 33 55minute periods on my timetable due to teacher shortages, so I've hardly any frees at all - 4, but I'm HoD, so I'm expected to an observation at least once a week too. I mentor a trainee teacher. I've done all the timetabling. I've made school-wide assessment and intervention tools. I've even written the explanation of the significance of the components of the school logo! it's bonkers.
at the moment I'm organising a science exhibition for the Sherig Celebrations - 100 years of 'modern' education in
linking up is still on, i'm just not sure how to go about it. nothing can happen until this celebration is over anyway. i'm waiting to find out if an application to get some funds for musical instruments comes through. if it does, the money from the concert will be added to these funds to secure a full set of instruments. if the application is unsuccessful, then i'll use the money to buy science equipment for the empty labs. i've already put an order through with my own money, but i'll make this the chepstow contribution if the music app fails and make sure you receive an acknowledgement letter of thanks. if you want to pass my email to SMT if they have any suggestions for link up, I'll do my best to get something off the ground. internet is out. skype is impossible. traditional methods only - writing letters etc.
better go - assembly soon. the kids all say prayers in unison, then the national anthem. it begins with a few minutes of mindfulness meditation, as does every lesson. Can you imagine that ;-)

Welcome back after a lovely, if not chilly Easter! We couldn't be more proud of our Key Stage 3 students, who took part in READATHON last term in order to raise money for various children's charities. Those that took up the reading challenge managed to raise a whopping £564 and bagged us over £100 worth of books for our fantastic Learning Zone. Brilliant, thankyou so much!
